I received an Elementary Education teaching degree with a Language Arts minor (2008) at a prestigious college: Hope College. Additionally, I have three years experience as a teacher in elementary education, teaching all subjects. While teaching my first year, my students had the highest test scores in the entire school. A big reason for my success is that I recognize everyone learns in a different way and at a different pace. I also found ways in which my students learn, and I made they are learning connect to the real world, through building relationships/trust. Also, my first year of teaching was documented in a book, as well as in an article in the "Michigan Reading Journal".
I am currently teaching adult learners a variety of subjects at Career Quest Learning Centers. At CQLC, I was recognized as: "Employee of the Month" in January 2013, based on my positive attitude and care for my students.
I also have 5 years experience coaching middle school - high school.
Finally, my number one priority as a teacher/tutor is to connect with the student and build trust. The more trust I have built with the student, the more the student will be able to accomplish.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
