I have recently worked at the college level with biology students as a paraprofessional. I worked one-on-one and in large groups with students through the biology courses, with a load of about 100 students a semester, working consistently with the biology department professors for a year at the local college, and I gained a vast amount of knowledge on the data related to the biological aspect of science. I have taken college biology, anatomy & physiology and microbiology which has given me a broader spectrum on the science field.
I have worked with high School students that were dual enrolled at the college and also with students of every age group. I use a lot of analogy and resources that help the individual student retain the information in the easiest way possible for them to succeed. I have references that stand behind my work at the college and am more than willing to share them with you if the times comes to allow me to help you or your child out in succeeding. I also have a background through college in writing, so if writing scientific papers or doing any science research is needed, I can also help in that aspect. I have done pond water evaluations, touched on fermentation, DNA replication, protein synthesis, bacteria, mitosis, meiosis, dissections, the human body and other science-related areas. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
