Hey,
So I just graduated college this past April from the University of Cincinnati with my undergraduate in mechanical engineering. I also graduated with my Masters in Business Administration. I am currently working as a lean manufacturing engineer in Memphis. I want to become a tutor for two main reasons 1) student loans and 2) I love to teach.

Hey,
So I just graduated college this past April from the University of Cincinnati with my undergraduate in mechanical engineering. I also graduated with my Masters in Business Administration. I am currently working as a lean manufacturing engineer in Memphis. I want to become a tutor for two main reasons 1) student loans and 2) I love to teach.

In high school I was captain of my chess and swimming teams. I was a member of my high school's soccer team and I was a leader in our international club. I understand the busy lifestyle and how yo balance extracurricular and school very well. In high school is also when I picked up my liking for teaching. I worked as a teacher's assistant in a pre-calculus class where I was even given the opportunity to facilitate lessons with my peers. Also I helped tutor outside of the classroom. I gave help in all HS mathematics subjects and had great success. I believe the key to being a great tutor is being able to relate what they are learning to real world examples. One of my biggest success stories is taking a young individual from a 40% class overall grade at midterms to getting a 77% in the class with a 94% on the final exam.

In college at UC I continued my swimming career and went into mechanical engineering school. I also was able during my Sophomore - Senior years to act as a class Teaching Assistant, to be a Peer Tutor as part of the learning assistance center and the athletics department (algebra thru multi variable calculus and physics), mentor in the mathematics learning center and even was able during my senior year to lead group tutoring as an SI leader in Engineering coursework. I have had more than 7 years of experiences with countless success stories. As part of my engineering coursework I have gone through Algebra -> multivariable calculus and differential equations and I have excelled in each of these classes and through my college career (3.84 overall collegiate GPA).

Overall Physics is my favorite subject. It is also a fun subject to teach and tutor. A lot of people struggle with Physics because often it is taught in a very complex way. By simplifying the problems for students often they are able to take each problem step by step and often make connections through the process which makes the monster of a problem not seem as terrifying.
As a potential tutor I vary each session according to the students. Typically I will just work with students on their homework or class work and determine at which concepts the students are struggling with. I try not to lead the lesson but rather just help the student when needed during through problem solving.

My biggest passion to tutoring is seeing a student go from a struggling state to being successful after just a couple short sessions. I hope to be able to share my knowledge and tips to many young students. I know I am not a professional teacher but I think that makes me different and in some cases even more valuable. I am empathetic to the difficulties that come through classroom teaching. Often times I get asked "Why am I learning this" or "When will I ever use this in life". As an engineer with about 3 years of practical experience I can help explain the concepts and relate them to real world examples.

Swimming

Swimming

I swam competitively from 4 - 22 years old. I swam in college as part of the collegiate team. My father was my swim coach and as I became older I started helping out with the little kids. I then become a head swim coach for a summer league swim team. I know the proper techniques and forms and can apply them for visual reference.
