About Stephanie

Hello, my name is Stephanie. I am pursuing my doctorate degree in clinical psychology at Western Michigan University. I love teaching and have three years of experience teaching undergraduate students. I specialize in test prep, writing, Spanish, general and behavior psychology, but also sports psychology focused on baseball and softball.

I have a BA degree in psychology. I am currently pursuing my doctorate in clinical psychology.

I volunteered for the Ozark Literacy Project, teaching Spanish-speaking adults English. I am a very strong writer. I am in the process of publishing my own articles for scientific journals.

I have a BA in Spanish. I have lived, worked, and volunteered abroad in Panama, Peru, and Mexico. I taught Spanish 101 and 102 in night classes at the undergraduate level for two years (fall 2014-spring 2016).

I played NAIA D1 softball for four years. I started and was an impact player during all four years. I was so successful at my sport because of not only the mastery of physical skills, but also the mental skills. I train aspiring athletes using mental skills that are necessary to compete at the next level. No one else teaches the mental game. I received many awards and collegiate recognitions during my time.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Softball

I played softball for 16 years. For the last eight years, I played at the elite level. In my high school years, I played not only for my varsity high school team, but also for an 18U Elite Gold team, which was nationally ranked. I continued my softball career in college at a Division I program in the NAIA division, Lyon College. I started all four years in high school and all four years in college. I was nationally recognized for my impact in college receiving multiple awards, including 1st Team All-Conference Player, 1st Team All-Academic, Academic All-American, and multiple NAIA and CoSida honors. I have given softball lessons to aspiring young athletes for the past seven years. I am particularly successful in this field because I teach not only the necessary physical skills, but also the mental skills. No other coach teaches those strategies. That sets me apart. Without a doubt, mental skills are more important than physical skills. An athlete can't be great if she can't handle herself at the plate and have good discipline. I have been blessed to have trained and been teammates with some of the best athletes in the world, including Shelby Pendley. I trained during my entire time in elite ball with Ronald Mims, who is the founder of the compact swing. My hitting technique parallels with what the professional players and other elite athletes are using. Once you get to a certain level, everyone does it the same. These are the skills that I teach the players I work with.
