I have loved teaching throughout my entire life. I actually taught my way through law school while working at the Legal Center for People with Disabilities and the Elderly in Salt Lake City, UT. The majority of my job was in giving presentations or forum for nursing homes, assisted living centers, or at the State Hospital about the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act, and (with school districts) the Education for All Handicapped Children Act. I also served as an investigator for them. I also taught students with special needs through Special Olympics starting back in college.

After being appointed a judge, I wanted to continue teaching and spent 7 years being a Paralegal Instructor at Pueblo Community College's Southwest Center in Cortez, CO. Some of the students that successfully completed the program are still lifelong friends. I also served as the coach and teacher for mock trial and moot court for children from elementary school to seniors in high school.

Upon moving to Denver, I obtained my Master's in Education - Secondary Education degree with a perfect 4.0. I am currently a Colorado-licensed attorney qualified to teach AT LEAST Social Studies and English for 6th through 12th grades. I just renewed the license, so it is good through 2021. I am seeking reciprocity with Michigan to be licensed to teach those same subjects for those same grades as a teacher or at least a substitute teacher in Michigan. During my student teaching, I taught US History to high school sophomores and juniors and Honors Geography to freshmen. Then, I served as the Criminal Justice/Crime Scene Investigation attorney for 5 school districts as a high school teacher and adjunct professor with Arapahoe Community College. Students obtained both high school and college credit for taking my classes. So, I taught students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and had to drive to multiple schools each day of the week to teach these five classes at five different schools.
