Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Church Ministries)
My name is Kenneth P. I have a degree in Church Ministries from Southwestern Assemblies of God University with a minor in English. I would be happy to tutor you or your student in Grammar, Writing and Literature as well as helping with proofreading and homework. For two years, I was a substitute teacher for two different school districts in Oklahoma. I also headed and facilitated a tutoring initiative within one of the school districts for a year. I was able to oversee tutoring lessons for high school and middle school students in need of help in all basic subjects for high school curriculum. I was also a member of an academic team for 3 years during an internship in Florida. The team provided tutoring in basic subjects as well as Biblical studies and specific coursework. Through that team, I was responsible for proof reading papers, providing guidance, and facilitating one-on-one tutoring time for students in need.
My minor is in English. I took several years of coursework for an English degree before making the switch to Church Ministry. My philosophy on tutoring is one that encourages a student to find their own answers through guidance. I find that knowledge is so much more easily gained AND retained when we "earn" the answers. My approach would focus on providing the tools necessary for a student to arrive at the solution. I am a strong proponent for positive thinking, peaceful living, and always seeking to learn. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
