Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. I have tutored numerous students in Mathematics and reading from the K-6th level and they have aced the course. In addition, I have tutored students that were placed on the honor role and were promoted as a result of he or she getting weekly tutoring.

Organic Chemistry

I am able to tutor Organic Chemistry because I have a bachelor's degree in Biology and an associates degree with Honors from Broward College. I learned about atoms, molecules, bonding, molecular orbital, alkanes, alkenes, alynes and dienes. I also enjoy drawing the structure of alkanes and alkenes, etc. For instance, methane has one carbon atom and butane has 4 carbon atoms. I had to do General Chemistry 1 and 2 before I was able to do Organic Chemistry 1 and 2. Both Chemistry courses consisted of labs with course work. I had completed both so I would be able to earn my bachelor's degree in Biology.

Phonics

I have a Bachelors Degree in Biology. I am able to tutor phonics. For instance, I will give them examples of words pronounced with a long vowels such as like bike, bake, make, and mule. I will tell them that ee, ea has long e sound like meat, feet and beat

Special Needs

I have a Bachelors degree in Biology and an Associate degree with Honors. During my undergraduate year, I did English 1101 and 1102. I also did General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, General Biology, Psychology, Music Appreciation, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Animal Physiology, Virology, Microbiology, and Immunology. As result of that, I am able to help a special needs child to become successful in their endeavors.

Study Skills

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Florida Atlantic University and an Associate's degree with Honors from Broward College, so I can help a student with study skills. I have completed many subjects during my undergraduate year such as College Algebra, trigonometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, English 1101 and 1102, Speech, Music Appreciation and Psychology. In terms of Math, I would help them memorize the area of a square which is length times width, the area of a triangle which is half base times height and and the area of a circle which is pi times radius squared. I will also tell them that they add all sides when using the perimeter. In addition, they would have to memorize the Pythagorean theorem which is (a) squared plus (b) squared equals (c) squared. In terms of reading, I will have practice passages for him or her to read and questions to answer for that particular passage. In terms of writing, I will have the student practice cause and effect essay, narrative essay, persuasive essay and expository essay.
