I'm a 2005 graduate of Cornerstone University, where I received a BA in history and business administration. I also studied in Greece while a student at Cornerstone and my dream is to eventually visit all of the countries of Europe someday. I have also taken Masters level courses in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University, as well as Secondary Education coursework from Western Michigan University.
The professional experience that I bring to the table varies. Most recently I served as an AmeriCorps member with Goodwill Industries of greater Grand Rapids as the Talent Development Specialist, where I helped our staff get ready to attend college. I've worked at the North Berrien Historical Museum down in Coloma, MI for a few years, performing a variety of tasks. I've also performed internships at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum and the Holland Historic Trust. But, I also have professional experience in education and business, where I worked for Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions for 2.5 years. While at Kaplan, I helped market Kaplan products as well as grade ACT practice essays for our ACT clients. While at Kaplan, I was also employed by MAD Science, where I taught an after-school science course.
I have a passion for history, business, and education and I feel that my experience in all three fields makes me a highly qualified tutor. I'm willing to tutor one-on-one, group tutoring, or online. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
