Currently teaching my 19th year with the Jackson Public School system, servicing over 800 students in several elementary buildings. Providing seven different general music programs (drum circle, guitar, etc.) as well as two full musicals during each school year. A performance accompanist for several local Jackson groups and high school marching band drill instructor. Musical stage experience includes yearly productions with the Croswell Opera House performing parts in Carmen, La Boheme, Die Fledermaus, La Tosca, Madame Butterfly and La Traviata. Assistant Production Director with Dexter Public Schools, in charge of set production, staging, costumes and vocal coaching. A private voice, piano, guitar and woodwind teacher.
I have received several awards and recognition in obtaining; Potter Center Care Presentation Award, Lions Quest Classroom Management Award, and serve as Jackson Public Schools Curriculum Department Chairperson. I am also a Professional Member of MSVA (Michigan State Vocal Association), MSBOA (Michigan State Band and Orchestra Association), MEA (Michigan Education Association) and Opera Lenawee!
I have completed Music Education coursework in the following areas: music theory, aural skills, music literature, functional piano, history of music, music composition, psychology of music, orchestration, band arranging, diction in singing, conducting, and vocal jazz.
I have also obtained a Master of Science in Curriculum Instruction with a concentration in Educational Leadership.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a valid teaching license in Music Education K-12. Currently 19 years of teaching experience with 28 class periods of elementary general music (K-6), per week.
I have taken four years of classroom guitar at Eastern Michigan University, as well as private lessons during this time. I teach several periods of class guitar with recital held by 6th grade students at end of school year. I perform folk style guitar in several instrumental groups.
I played with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra as second chair oboist for four years (1998-2001). I played alto saxophone in the Eastern Michigan Marching Band as well as the jazz band. I taught woodwind band clinics, and proficient in beginning woodwinds (flute, oboe, saxophone and clarinet).
I received a minor in piano performance from Eastern Michigan University. I've taken personal private lessons since the age of 5. Church pianist/organist and accompanist for weekly services as well as competitions and festivals.
I received a BMEV (Bachelors in Music Education with a concentration in Voice) from Eastern Michigan University. I perform yearly with Opera Lenawee, performing parts in Carmen, La Boheme, Die Fledermaus, La Tosca, Madame Butterfly, and La Traviata. Help direct children's chorus with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra.
