Konnichiwa! I am a Japanese American, born and raised in Japan. Completely bilingual and bi-cultural, I received my college degree in the States, double majoring in Education and Japanese, and am teaching at the college level as a Japanese language instructor as well as teaching EFL to Japanese exchange students on special programs. I also work as a translator and offer instruction to advanced language students interested in translation. I love teaching Japanese at any level, as well as sharing it's amazing and unique culture. I love watching Japanese dramas, anime, movies, and listening to J-pop not only as something I personally enjoy, but also as a way to keep up on any current changes in Japanese vocabulary/slang. I am open to using different types of curriculum, but I personally use the "Genki" series as my preferred teaching text. I may sound a bit formal here in my introduction, but I am very easy going and love to laugh and want students to feel comfortable and enjoy learning Japanese! Douzo yoroshiku onegaishimasu!

In addition, I also offer tutoring for anyone studying English as a new language, as well as improving what skills already exist, and test prep support for exams such as the TOEFL and TOEIC. I understand the challenges of learning and mastering something new, so I would love to offer my knowledge and experience to encourage, help and support anyone on this language learning journey.

For those who cannot meet in person for whatever reason, I am more than happy to tutor via Skype as well.

I was born and raised in Japan. I came to the states for my college studies, where I graduated with a degree in elementary education and in Japanese. I have been working in translation and teaching Japanese at the college level for many years and truly enjoy it. I have also studied other foreign languages, so I understand the challenges that come with new language acquisition. I try my best to understand the unique learning styles of all of my students so that they may be as successful as possible in building their language fluency and mastery.

I was originally certified in Michigan as an elementary school teacher and have taught second grade. Although I now teach at the college level, I do still very much enjoy teaching younger students. I am very comfortable tutoring in all subjects, and understanding the unique learning styles of each student is very important to me in order to help and encourage academic success and reaching their full potential.
