I'm a music teacher with five years experience with students of all ages, from 6 to 60! In total, I have spent more than two decades learning and performing on the viola and violin. I perform regularly on the viola, and teach violin and viola. I have experience with large ensembles, chamber music groups such as string quartets, trios, duets, and solo music. I also have a strong interest in improvisation and am able to coach that as well.
My method in teaching music is to begin with a solid foundation of basics in rhythm and melody. Having worked with a diverse group of students in the past, I have experience with teaching students preparing to enter college studies, adults who are wishing to reconnect with their instruments, students in middle school and high-school who are showing interest, and many others.
I have earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in music performance from Universities and Colleges in Michigan and Illinois. I love performing and teaching and get a lot of joy out of spreading my love for music. Hello!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
