Bachelor of Liberal Arts
I started back to school after many years and once my educational journey began there was no stopping me!
I have proven success as an adult student. I obtained a 3.96 GPA at my University with a double major in Sociology and International Studies. I was awarded a University Presidential Scholarship. So, I believe each of us can excel on our own educational journey. Of course, it takes hard work; a plan of action; and sometimes help and guidance along the way.
Learning and teaching are my passions and I would like to pass them on to you as well as others. My passion comes from many years of tutoring and teaching students of all ages and cultures. I have a great respect for people from all over the world. My background includes living and teaching in South Korea for two years.
So, let me help you to obtain your goals in:

Nancy is an attentive and understandable person, through the past 2 years she has provide me with different strategies to improve my writing skills.
She has help me in the following areas: brainstorming, organizing ideas, sentence structure, verb tenses, writing a strong introduction/body/conclusion, and citing information in MLA/APL format. Also, we have worked several times in preparing myself for the GMAT.
I wanted to get a high score on the ASVAB for the Air Force. Nancy helped me do that. We went over testing skills and my problem areas. She was very good and knew what she was doing and she was very patient. After working with Nancy I took the test and scored high. I owe it all to Nancy!!
I am from Shanghai, China. I have had a tutoring experience with Nancy for 4 months in Holland, MI. It is a very memorable experience for me in my life, I have learned a lot from Nancy:
1. American pronunciation
3. How to survive in US
4. Western culture
and the most important is that she teached me the American values and ethics. She is very nice, accommodating and patient.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a substantial amount of experience in this field. I spent two years teaching Conversational English (ESL) at a small South Korean University. This included classroom practice and community outings. So, I have experience not only teaching Koreans but understanding the background of the Asian cultures of many countries.
Secondly, I taught vocational Business English for four years in an Adult Education setting (within that four years, I did teach for the ESL department at times).
I have tutored college students who are Native Spanish speakers.
In my position as a career workshop facilitator, I often coached non-English speakers.
Finally, my degree is a double major - both Sociology and International studies. I received a Summa Cume Laude for distinction in this degree.
I have a wide range of experience as an adult student and teacher. My experience as a Public Speaker at the University Level included making presentations to large groups of students and faculty on topics involving international and economic relationships between countries; collecting and interpreting social data; professional and successful use of the university's library and resource systems; and various cultural topics.
My employment background that involves public speaking was centered on giving presentations on career topics. I was a presenter for Career Exploration classes and workshops; Adult Vocational programs; and administering guidelines for various examinations and certifications to small and large groups.
The three key components to successful public speaking are subject knowledge, presentation techniques, and practice.
