About Adam

Learning should be a customized process. Some are visual, some are auditory, most are somewhere in between. Regardless of how someone learns best, a good tutor should consider a few things. First, is the style of learning for the person. Second, and more importantly, is how to motivate that person. Figuring out the best way to encourage someone when learning can be a challenge is extremely important. Once you have identified what can motivates someone, the learning becomes much easier. As a trained clinical psychologist with a doctoral degree from an APA accredited program, I have a great deal of experience in learning methodology. In the process of earning my degree, I have also spent countless hours studying on my own. I also have had a great deal of experience working with people in educational settings. In particular, kids, young adults, and adults with developmental disabilities.

I have worked in schools, universities, day habilitation programs, and hospitals over the last 10 years. Much of my experience has come teaching people with disabilities like Autism. I've taught academics, social skills, daily living skills, communication, and many others. I love the work. I currently am completing my postdoctoral hours at a prominent New York hospital, and I'd love to help your family with my extra time.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
