I am known as Dr. J., an endearing name my students gave me several years ago when I asked them to stop singing my name i.e., JoLene. I love teaching but more importantly I really love helping students to succeed and I believe there is always hope for students, even when they think all is lost. I am honest, with a strong background both in the classroom and the field. I have a good sense of humor and believe if we laugh we have an easier time of almost anything we take on, whether it's work, school, or life. Life is a banquet.
At the same time, I also believe it is important to meet our obligations. If you have a paper due for a particular class it is necessary to do the work and move on to the next assignment.
I work hard and laugh often, which I believe helps relieve the stress students frequently experience when participating in the academic environment. I have a PhD in Psychology with a specialization in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and Learning Psychology. Both of these specializations provide me with a unique understanding of people, learning, and the world of work. My Masters Degree is in Counseling, which provides me with the ability to assist in reducing student angst relative to the learning process.
I can tutor Introduction to Psychology, Human Relations, Human Services Administration, Case Management, Introduction to Human Services, Ethics for the Helping Professional, Industrial Organizational Psychology, Change Management, Cultural Diversity in the Workplace, The Psychology of Diversity, Race, Counseling Theory, Abnormal Psychology, Ethnic and Diversity Studies, Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, Diversity, History & Systems of Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Social Psychology, Occupational Relations, and Management Foundations.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
