Currently, I am a department head at a college for the Fashion Design and Merchandising Programs. I teach Fashion Design, Illustration, Computer Illustration, Fashion History and Portfolio/Career Development subjects along with many other courses. I often tutor or mentor students in sewing, apparel design/pattern making, computer software such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Power Point as well as Adobe Illustrator, In-Design and PhotoShop.
I also have a background as a Commercial Interior Designer and Space Planner. I have a Fine Arts Degree with concentration in Interiors, minor in business and psychology and a Masters Degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising with a concentration in Textile/Fiber Arts subjects. I am an accomplished multimedia artist. I also have a long career history in direct sales and marketing.
Last year, I took on mentoring a junior high student from a local charter school for six months, it was an extremely rewarding experience and would welcome an opportunity to work with students in junior and senior high school as well as college.
I have some successful experience working with students with learning disabilities such as ADD, Dyslexia and Aspergers in a college classroom setting. I have also spent 12 years of experience working at the Muscular Dystrophy summer camp.
Teaching is my passion, I have a relaxed style but firm commitment to setting and achieving goals. Gaining student confidence is very important to a successful relationship, whenever possible I work to relate the subject matter to real world applications through experience, making sure the student understands how relative to success learning is.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have used Microsoft programs since their inception.
As both a professional career person and educator I used all the programs on a daily basis, and would rank myself as an experienced user at an advanced level.
