Hi! My name is James. I graduated from Calvin University with a bachelor's degree in social work. Throughout my time in college, I was able to tutor elementary students in Spanish/English, taught ESL to adult learners, studied international teaching in Honduras, studied community development in Liberia, and worked with truancy high school students in Washington DC. After graduating, I worked directly with teenagers in a residential setting. These teenagers struggled with many different social aspects which are explained in sociology and social work classes. Many teenagers struggled with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and trauma. I worked with teenagers for over three years and also worked with adults with developmental disabilities who struggled with homelessness, substance abuse, and trauma. In my professional experiences, I worked one-on-one with people of all backgrounds.
I would like to focus my attention on tutoring in social work, sociology, politics, government, social studies, ESL, Algebra, elementary math, and Spanish.
I am very open to feedback and want to give you the very best experience so you can succeed!
I received an ACT in the high twenties and studied pre-calculus in high school.
I have a bachelor's degree in social work and have worked as a social worker in a professional setting for over four years.
I was very close to receiving a minor in Spanish, I have taught ESL to adults, and have tutored elementary students who spoke mostly Spanish.
If you are struggling and need a good tutor who has plenty of experience working with youth, please feel free to reach out!
