Bio

During my studies at Grand Valley State, I took various writing and humanities classes outside of the social science requirements of my majors. Over three and a half years in undergrad, I wrote and co-edited a book of spiritual-theological meditations for the Midwest community. To date, 350(+) books have been sold at full price.

During my studies at Grand Valley State, I took various writing and humanities classes outside of the social science requirements of my majors. Over three and a half years in undergrad, I wrote and co-edited a book of spiritual-theological meditations for the Midwest community. To date, 350(+) books have been sold at full price.

Also during this time, I began writing and editing a blog for what could be considered ‘internet evangelism.’ The postings covered topics such as suffering, thankfulness, purpose in life, discernment, and more. Each post was recorded to reach approximately 100 individuals—including many agnostic Facebook friends!—with minimal marketing. You can browse the site by clicking here.

The last four years (2012-16) have provided a wealth of practical ministerial duties in both urban and university contexts. In the university, I have spent three years preparing and editing intellectual studies for small groups. The urban-incarnational and church ministry was— (by its’ nature)—oriented less towards writing skills, but instead social work and counseling. Still, writing has been an essential component of all my ministry efforts, whether public or private.

In 2015, I graduated in the top 95% of my class with a dual degree in both Psychology and Sociology. Specifically, my emphasis has been on Narrative Identity, Gratuity and Racial Identity. I have spanned early Greco-Roman philosophy (specifically Stoicism) and read/written extensively on scholastic/systematic theology, reformation theology, high renaissance, and enlightenment philosophy. Often, I create diagrams to help visually represent material that is otherwise abstract. I can also help students in the research/writing process.

Two years of training and proficient reading in Koine Greek at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. My experience can help with: grammar, paradigms, exegesis, and other resources.
