Hello. I'm a recent college graduate. My degree is in mathematics. I have a history of tutoring. I tutored back in high school and many of those students not only survived high school but went on to college. I spent a school year tutoring at Hudsonville high school while in college. what made me unique there was I was the only student coming From GVSU that was there to help with math.

I tutored back in high school and many of those students not only survived high school but went on to college. My best moment tutoring was my senior year of high school when a freshman was sent my way, he was failing all of his classes. Part of the problem was he was lazy, but the teachers didn't seem to care if he passed or not. it was too late in the semester to save his grades, but we made a plan for the winter semester and he got an A 3 B's and a C. He wasn't perfect but we made a huge jump. He now is at BYU studying to be an engineer so I think we can say we did succeed in the long run.
My high school math teacher used to say that sometimes being the best at something makes you the worst person to teach it. I agree with that. Larry Bird was an excellent basketball player but his coaching career was a joke, he couldn't understand why his players couldn't all do everything right from the start. It's the same with math ( or any subject really). I struggled at math a lot, so I understand the frustration that comes along with that. but through my struggles came a deeper understanding. A lot of tutors mimic what a teacher would do, but I didn't learn that way and I'm guessing you don't either or you wouldn't get a tutor.
listen, school doesn't need to be as stressful as it is, I am the tutor that as long as I think you are making an effort I will defend you. you don't need your teacher your parents and your tutor jumping on your back all the time. I'm here to help you so lets sit down and work through this together. but just keep in mind they are only getting after you because they care. I know that sounds mushy gushy but if they didn't care they wouldn't say a word or get you a tutor.
