Hello! I am a native Russian speaker and a naturalized US citizen. My undergraduate degree, from a university in the former Soviet Union, is in linguistics; in connection, I obtained certification in language instruction and translation and interpretation. Since 1994 I have done freelance work or been employed by a variety of international organizations, including the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative. In 2001 I earned a Muskie Fellowship for graduate study in the US. Due to my secondary degree (international studies, University of Denver), I also offer vocabularies in foreign relations and politics.
Having received educations both in Russian and English, and having learned two foreign languages myself (English and German), I can relate to the needs of students learning a language, and understand which techniques are most effective for achieving introductory and advanced levels of competence. I am willing to design a curriculum that matches particular interests (for example, targeting basic conversation or specialized professional areas) in order to create a learning environment beneficial to each student.
Lessons can be held at the student's residence, my house, or a mutually agreed location in between. I have a 24 hour cancellation policy, and offer a possibility of rescheduling cancelled lessons.
I look forward to sharing the richness of the Russian language with my students!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a native Russian speaker with an Honors Degree in Linguistics and Literature from a Kyrgyz State National University (where instruction was provided in Russian). In the course of my education, I took multiple classes on language instruction, methodology, and pedagogy. I was certified by the University as a language teacher/instructor and translator.
I have over eight years of work experience in bilingual settings. Additionally, I won a highly competitive scholarship (Muskie Fellowship) to continue my education at an American university, and obtained an M. A. in International Studies from the University of Denver.
Based on my educational and professional background, I can provide the Russian language instruction in a variety of areas, starting with basic communication and language literacy to specific fields, including law, economics, politics, and logistics.
