I'm a sixth year Ph.D. student in Linguistics at Rice University, and I have spent eight months living in the francophone country of New Caledonia while conducting research for my dissertation. I'm fluent in French, and I have an undergraduate degree in French and Mathematics from St. Mary's College of Maryland. I have worked as a TA for a total of nine years, tutoring Linguistics for college students and Mathematics for middle school through college students. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
