I have tutored for a number of years; taught ESL, TESOL overseas; taught beginning piano and violin; and have retired after 25 plus years teaching social studies for the last twenty and AP European History for more than ten years. I have taught geography at a community college and am a reader for the AP course. I have recently retired from the public schools. I can speak Arabic, lived in Germany, play tennis and soccer.
I am very thorough, conscientious, reliable and enjoy getting results, working toward a goal,and individualizing instruction. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored students for the ACT for many years. As a teacher, I taught ACT test-taking skills for twenty years.
I have taught ESL overseas in Jordan in private schools, language institutes, and tutored privately. I have taught ESL in Ann Arbor in Adult Education, U of M North Campus, and at Nisson.
