Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Composition (Music)

I started playing banjo at the age of 10, and guitar at the age of 12. In the 30+ years since then, I have taken Music Theory classes as well as Basic and Advanced Guitar at Campbellsville College (Now University). I have taught both guitar, banjo as well as music theory since the late 1980s. I have also played in over 20 States (From Georgia to California and even on various stages in Nashville, Tennessee). I have 3 cds out currently.

Drawing

I have been an artist since the late 1970's. From 1982-1986 I had taken all 4 years of Art Classes in High School, as well as our Unit's Artist while I was in the U.S. Army (1989-1992). Since then I have been a professional artist doing mostly portraits, but teach landscapes, as well as still lifes. My main medium is graphite pencil, but I also work in color pencil, ink as well as limited paints (watercolor and acrylic).

Guitar

I have played the guitar since the late 1970's. I teach not only how to tune the guitar to standard 440 (E, A, D, G, B, E) - but also learn where and how the chords are made (For example to play the G chord you need to find the G, B, and D notes). This can be found throughout the entire neck of the guitar. The 2 dots at the 12th fret indicate the octave.

Martial Arts

I got my First Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do (Korean Karate) in 1990. Since then I have been promoted several times (Including an honorary 6th Dan). I first started in 1988 and have been teaching since. I have also taught Tang Soo Do (translates to Chinese Hand Way) to several law enforcement officials as well as during Operation Desert Storm (1990-1991) including to NCO and Commissioned Officers. I have Certifications from Tang Soo Do Martial Arts Society, Pan-Am Tang Soo Do, Kim's Karate and National Tang Soo Do Alliance.

Video Production

I have worked in Video Production/Duplication/Reproduction since the early 2000's. Starting with Pinnacle 7 and now up to Pinnacle 18. I have used Chroma Key (green-screen) as well as split screen in productions. In Duplication/Reproduction I have transferred 8mm reel to reels (VHS, 8mm tapes) to DVD and now to Blu-Ray. I have worked with various video formats including but not limited to: wmv, avi, mpg(mpeg), mpg2 (MPEG2), mpg4, MTS, DiVX and more.
