Grand Valley State University (Elementary Education)
Growing up in West Michigan, I have always enjoyed getting outside and exploring the world around me as a young boy. I grew up in awe of the dunes, the water, and the woods that surrounded my home. Along with my love for nature came a profound curiosity. I had a thirst for knowing more about how the world around me worked, and what I could do to have a positive impact on it. Of course, passing this love for learning onto the next generation became one of my passions as I grew up and went off to college.
My name is David, and I am currently 23 years old. I have two years' experience working in a local school with seniors (12th grade). I also work as a Paramedic and a Firefighter part time, and absolutely love being able to help others. In my High School years I maintained above a 4.0 GPA and, perhaps more importantly, a positive attitude towards education. I hold a Paramedic license, an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science from Muskegon CC, and am currently a senior at Grand Valley State University, dual-majoring in Elementary Education and Integrated Science.
I specialize in teaching the elementary subjects (math, science, social studies, and reading/writing/language arts), however, I am also very proficient in various other subjects at the middle and high school levels. I have experience working with students that have IEP's and am happy to make accommodations as necessary.
My tutoring approach varies based upon student needs, be it is very driven and fast paced, slower and more thorough, or somewhere in between. I am a very reliable, positive, and timely person. I do remain flexible with scheduling, however I do ask for at least a 12 hour notification of cancellations or time changes. I realize life gets busy and things change, and that’s okay! I also ask that tutoring sessions be held in public locations (typically local libraries).
If you have any questions or would like to know more about me, please ask! But at this point, let me hear a little bit about YOU! I would love to discuss working with you or your child and set up some goals, which we can begin working towards. Whether your son or daughter (or perhaps even you!) needs help in school, I give you my word that I will work my hardest to help them be successful in whatever it is they hope to accomplish.
