Hi! I am a recently retired Special Education Teacher, with 25 years of teaching experience. I primarily taught elementary/middle school students. I also taught life skills to high school student.
I have been married to the same man for 37 years, have 3 children, 3 grandchildren, and 3 dogs. I am fortunate my children live near us because family is very important to us. I enjoy talking, eating, and laughing.
What makes me love teaching so much? It is important for me to want my students wanting to be "present, heard, acknowledged, and respected". My hope is also to teach organizing skills, and self management. Hard work will pay off.
With my 25 years of teaching experience, I have taught all subjects. Working with students with learning challenges, I needed to find multiple ways to provide supports to enhance learning.
I believe American History can be taught in an engaging manner, from the perspective of the human experience vs facts and dates. Using technology enhances the learning experience. I find American History fascinating and will do my best to make it relevant for your child.
I have worked for 25 years, working with students with special needs. It isn't solely teaching content. It is teaching children. I believe it is important to have high expectations, keeping in mind, the needs of the child. I believe teaching is a calling and have felt blessed to have been able to teach. I also believe that feedback (to the student) is necessary, but feedback is neutral and related to the subject matter. All students should experience learning as socially engaging and come away with a sense of achievement.
My hours are flexible and I would put 100% into the process to achieve specific goals that are important to you. There seems to be so many demands put on students now a days. I will strive to "ease" some of that for you and set you for success! Hi! I am a recently retired Special Education Teacher, with 25 years of teaching experience. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am a retired teacher with 25 years experience working with students with emotional and unique behavioral needs. Some of my experience working with students with autism came with outside support from specialists in the field. With the hands on training, I've learned how visual prompts are important and consistent expectations. I also have had some experience as a substitute teacher in this area, since retirement.
I am a retired teacher with 25 years working in the field of special education. For the last 12 years, I have worked in a center-based program for students with emotional and unique behavioral needs. I've worked with upper elementary students and up to high school students. Students ranged from non-readers to students on grade level. Many students were also dealing with mental health issues that compounded their challenges as learners.
