I am an industrial scientist with deep interest in application of mathematics and statistics in solving industrial problems. Such an exercise helped me quantify the problem and with right model allowed me to develop a picture of the expected outcome of an exercise. I have taught mathematics and statistics for about 20 semesters at college level. Some are high school mathematics taught at college. The others are college level. I will help the students love mathematics, and not view it as an abstract subject. So, I offer plenty of examples to point out how mathematics and statistics can be used to solve practical problems. I make every attempt to remove fear of mathematics from student's mind. Finally, I also learn during the course of my teaching how to approach the problems better and articulate solution which are easy to follow by the students. During my teaching experience students thanked me for making an effort to explain each and every question with patience. In my effort to become a better teacher I tried to learn the true barrier the students may have for not to be able to see the solution path. Once I know that I made every attempt to eliminate the barrier.
The uniqueness in my teaching mathematics lies in my ability to eliminate fear of numbers as a step number 1 by helping student carry out mental mathematics with numbers followed by instilling the determination to extract the reasoning of every step behind a solution as step number 2. This process is carried out in a non-threatening manner (no idea is a bad idea). I also allow students construct their own story problems and match their solution with the story to compare their mental logic with the mathematics process. I challenge the students construct problems parallel to those that the book has so that they have a physical picture of the subject matter. I use plenty of examples to relate the application of the theory to real life situations. I make the students confident and eager to learn more mathematics. I believe this approach in addition to working out regular homework problems make students better mathematicians or at least a better user of mathematics.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
