Oakland University, Rochester, MI (Music Education)
Hello, My name is Kimberly.
I am a certified teacher of all things music. I love music theory; can't get enough of it. I was a music theory tutor while still in college for other college students. I helped a friend of mine get a song published, by guiding him through composition of his piece and fixing many musical problems he ran into along the way. I believe it is important to get a tutor who is a real educator. Even though someone is good at music theory, or voice, does not mean they know how to communicate the idea to the student or adapt the lesson to fit individual needs.
I am an expert when it comes to voice. I specialize in younger voices, Starting a child off in voice lessons at an early age is a big decision, many teachers advise against it. The voice is very delicate and unless treated and trained properly, you risk causing permanent damage. I am great with the younger voices, I help my students learn the fundamentals of singing and essentials for good healthy vocal chords. Even though a majority of my students are in grade school, I have had great success and experience teaching adult age as well. My students always find my method of teaching very engaging and easy to understand, my technique comes fairly easy to master with almost instantaneous results. I still follow all normal vocal training techniques, I just have quicker ways of training your muscles to do what they are supposed to do. I am great at explaining many of the more difficult concepts of singing so that it becomes easier to apply and master.
I would love to meet with you for a trial lesson if you like. I am also available if you have to study for a theory test or have a vocal performance coming up soon and you need a little boost to get that edge you need. Hello, My name is Kimberly.

Michelle really enjoyed her first lesson and is looking forward to her next one. She was clearly entertained as well as informed by Kim's approach.
Kimberly Does not waste time. She uses imagery to accomplish understanding with breathing. She helps the student by making them confident in performing.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a long time vocal coach helping individuals succeed in competitions and performance goals for about 7 years. I have taken voice lessons for 17 years. I have a degree in vocal music education, and have led vocal workshops for all ages. I have voice students from all over the world, including France and Scotland. I love to see and hear my students mature vocally. I am currently looking for more serious singers who want to sing because they love it. I can do college prep (I so far have not had a student denied entry to the music department at a college of university.) I can also do solo and ensemble prep or concert solo prep. I can even help you prep for american idle or the voice. I have been in numerous musicals with lead vocal parts, as well as had many music theater students. If there are any questions on my qualifications, please let me know
