Brooks Institute of Photography (Film and Television)
Hello! I am a US Army Combat Veteran and graduate from the Brooks Institute of Photography, located in Ventura and Santa Barbara, CA.
I have held a deep love and appreciation for film since a very early age, and approach film and television the same way I approach a great work of art hanging on a wall, or creative jazz being played by a master.
While in school, I focused primarily on cinematography and screenwriting. Since graduation, I have worked on films in a variety of positions, including cinematographer, gaffer, grip, transportation and armorer.
I enjoy working with friends in creating stories populated by dynamic and interesting characters that viewers will remember. I am excited by the digital revolution which finally puts the medium of "film" into the hands of those of us who used to find filmmaking to be an endeavor too expensive to pursue.
These days, even an iphone can shoot quality images, and youtube can bring your stories to a wide audience. The only thing people may be missing is the knowledge to approach a project, or story, or composition with a critical eye and an open mind, and the willingness to alter their creations in order to make them memorable.
I am willing and eager to help in any way that I can, and hopefully, any pupil I work with will leave with a greater appreciation for film and television as an art, and the enthusiasm to create something unique on their own. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
