I'm a former college instructor and have taught fine and commercial art including: drawing, 2-D design, graphic design, illustration (traditional and digital), and typography. I am best at teaching in a one-on-one capacity with demonstrations and critiques being vital to the learning process. I'm very patient, and encourage students to look at other work and talk about it, as I believe that seeing and analyzing are essential to our growth as artists.
My own background is diverse and I have degrees in fine art, technical writing, and web design/development. My graduate degree was from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I studied painting and theory. I later went on to study (and teach) commercial art in a community college capacity.
I'm also qualified to do proofreading or help with expository writing (and other formal writing). I can tutoring either onsite or remotely (if this is permitted by Wyzant Inc.).

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Topics may include user interface design, image prep for the web, best design practice, coding fundamentals, and FTP using the Dreamweaver interface.
I have an M.F.A. in painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and have exhibited locally and nationally.
