About Ryan

Hi Everyone!

My name is Ryan and I am a current PhD student at Oakland University studying Applied Mathematics. I was an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Madonna University during the previous semester, and I am currently working as an Adjunct Instructor at ITT Tech. I attended the University of Michigan - Dearborn, where I received degrees with distinction in both Computer Engineering and Engineering Mathematics. I have loved mathematics ever since I was a young child and hope to one day be a math professor. I love tutoring and teaching and hope to share my love of mathematics with other students.

During my time at U of M and Oakland University, I have held various teaching, research, and graduate assistantships, in which I held office hours, graded papers, provided additional instruction, and developed practice problems for students of various skill levels.

I presently hold a position as the Co-Director of Debate at Wylie E. Groves High School, where I have had the privilege of working alongside extremely dedicated schoolteachers over the previous six years. I have also had the pleasure of volunteering on the weekends to assist members of the Detroit Urban Debate League (DUDL), which seeks to foster debate among students in Detroit and the immediate neighboring areas.

My previous teaching and coaching experience has allowed me to gain a greater understanding of working students of all different ages, skill levels, backgrounds, and interests. Additionally, my experiences have given me the knowledge necessary to develop an individualized approach for each of my students, rather than a "one-size-fits-all" program.

I hope to hear from you soon!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
