Today was my daughter's first tutor session. Dina is very knowledgeable in the area of chemistry. She covered the topics my daughter needed help with; and she is very nice. Looking forward to future sessions.
Thank you Glenda. Your daughter is a very intelligent young lady and I look forward to our future lessons together.
My daughter needed basic chemistry review in a compressed period of time to prepare for an exam. Dina was very prompt responding to emails and patient corresponding until I knew we had a good match. She worked to accommodate our schedules, prepared study topics, arrived on time and provided relevant worksheets. Dina not only helped with the subject, but also with my daughter's confidence in chemistry.
Dina helped my son study for his final in Chemistry AP, she was prompt, very patient and knowledgeable about chemistry.
Dina is very knowledgeable, thorough, friendly and always well prepared for the lesson. She is always punctual and my daughter enjoys her teaching style. We are glad that we found Dina and looking forward to continuing lessons with her.
Thank you Jagath. I enjoy tutoring your daughter. She is very intelligent and pays so much attention to all the details. I wish her the best.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am trained in the different subsections of ACT math including algebra, coordinate geometry, plane geometry trigonometry and logic. I have a pool of questions that I have from each subsections and I will work with my students to master each part.
There are three types of passages on the ACT science test: Data representation, research summary and conflicting view points. The questions address three different levels of reasoning namely understanding, analysis and generalization. I will work with my students on how to analyze the data given in each passage and eliminate the obviously wrong answers and chose the right answers.
I teach Biology with hands-on methods. I bring my microscope and set of slides to my lessons or bring the string simulation of chromosomes for my students to help them follow the movement of chromosomes through the different stages of mitosis and meiosis.
I have many worksheets or test questions that I have prepared for my classes and these are available to my students when I tutor them. I emphasize on understanding the concepts. For example I have one mole of Al and Zn and Fe and I bring my scale to my lessons and have my students determine the masses of one mole of these metals to understand the mole concept.
Farsi is my native language. I was born in Tehran and attended high-school through the age of 15 (tenth grade) there. I taught Farsi to my both sons in the Persian school in Ann Arbor and West Bloomfield. I have the book and all the materials to teach Farsi to English speaking students through fifth grade.
I have a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry and and teach Chemistry and Biology in several community colleges. I have worksheets that I have prepared for my classes on the subject of Mendelian genetics and beyond, meaning sex-linked inheritance, co-dominance, incomplete dominance, pleitropy, epistasis, polygenic inheritance. I also have several pedigree analysis problems that I offer my students to understand the genetic pattern in a family.
