About Stephanie

Stephanie has always wanted to be a teacher and has had a passion for teaching all her life. She reached this goal and started teaching in the fall of 2013 at Stockbridge Community Schools as a special education teacher. Stephanie has always prioritized both education and experience; Michigan State University incorporated both into her programs. Stephanie got her Master of Arts in Teaching and Curriculum with a mathematics concentration at Michigan State University in 2016. This program allowed her to study many areas of education such as curriculum, special education, technology, mathematics, and literacy while working at Stockbridge. In 2012, Stephanie completed her Bachelor of Arts in Special Education with an Integrated Mathematics Major. Her studies included an array of subjects and experience, but the focus was on special education and mathematics. Throughout her life, college or any point in her schooling, Stephanie took on teaching or tutoring opportunities. She substitute taught, participated in high school and college internships, worked at the Mathematics Learning Center for Michigan State University, Writing Center, tutored, or simply engaged in friendships with peers with special needs. She has worked in rural, urban, and suburban schools; elementary, middle, and high school levels; and finally, general and special education classrooms. As you can see, I enjoy learning and teaching!

As a High School Special Education Mathematics Teacher, she can tutor Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and more. She is also a High School Special Education English Teacher, and Writing Center Consultant.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
