Hi all! I'm a third-year PhD student in Michigan State's Genetics program. I also did my undergraduate work at MSU, so if you are an MSU student, odds are good that I've taken many of the same classes you will be taking. I graduated in four years with a degree in Physiology and a degree in Zoology (Genetics concentration). In the past, I've been a TA for both ZOL 341 (Fundamental Genetics) and MMG 302 (Microbiology Laboratory), and I really enjoyed teaching both of them. I always try to focus on explaining the science behind a question so that it is clear and understandable, rather than ask students to memorize things.
I'm done with all of the coursework for my PhD, with a GPA of 3.705. So I have a very thorough understanding of the fundamentals of biology. My specific areas of expertise are genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, biostatistics, and evolution. Hi all! I'm a third-year PhD student in Michigan State's Genetics program. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I'm a third-year PhD student in Michigan State's Genetics program. I specialize in eukaryotic genetics, and I have significant experience in human/medical genetics as well. I've TAed ZOL 341 at MSU, and I took the course myself as an undergraduate there. If it's taught in an undergraduate genetics course, I can teach it to you.
A few subjects I know include:
-Transcription and Translation
-Lac and Trp Operons
-Mendelian and Non-Mendelian inheritance
My training as a geneticist has involved a lot of coursework in microbiology. I've taken graduate-level courses on prokaryotic cell biology, eukaryotic cell biology, and human cell biology. I've also been a TA for an introductory microbiology lab.
