About Elton

I have been teaching and coaching in some form for most of my professional life. I’ve had the pleasure of receiving correspondence from a number of past students who say they appreciated my teaching methods, as it helped them become successful in their chosen fields.

My professional teaching career began at the university level, where I taught 3rd and 4th year architectural design for 4 years at the University of Detroit.
I have participated in a number of charter high school student mentoring programs.
I facilitated an Explorers Post at my workplace for several years where we introduced high school students to field of architecture. There, students learned various aspects of architecture that include art, science, physics and written communications required to achieve an ultimate design solution.

While in private business practice, I participated in a high school sponsored student/professional shadowing, where students were allowed to spend several days a week in a professional office setting to observe and participate in the operation of architecture in action.
As I employed young professionals in my private practice, I would assign them tasks, give them a framework within which to operate, provided resources and set time limits on problem solving and solution delivery, allowing them to succeed using their own methods.

Written communication is one of most important tools that I used on a daily basis. Thought organization, grammar and punctuation are most important. I had to make certain that all parties involved were provided with the best information to make the best contribution to the success of a project.

I used the tools of the Microsoft Office Suite extensively in my professional practice - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, to communicate with stakeholders and other professionals during the of a project. Each of these tools communicates information in a different way. This presents the opportunity for each individual to understand the information that is most comfortable to him/her.

Contact me at your earliest convenience to continue your journey to a brighter future!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

My professional teaching career was at the university level, although I have recently tutored middle school and high school students who are now in college. English is one of my strengths.
