About Emily

I am a high school English teacher in Detroit. I have worked as a reading and writing interventionist as well as conducted ACT prep work. I am currently a paid tutor through the school, but wanted to expand to other areas. My goal is to give students the ability to succeed in whatever their endeavors may be. My major was English Literature with an emphasis in Secondary Education. Along with English, I am certified to teach social studies at the secondary level. I am pursuing a Master's in Urban Pedagogy at the University of Michigan and am part of the Teach for America movement. I have dedicated my life to education because I believe it has the power to open doors- it's my job to ensure every child has the potential to open them.
