I'm well versed in students' problems with learning sciences and languages. I have three degrees. I have a dual degree in Biomedicine and Spanish. I also have a minor degree in Chemistry. As a Chemistry TA, I worked with over 100 students in Chemistry 1100 and Chemistry 2200. I held regular office hours for three days a week and had experience working with student on a one-to-one basis. As a Chemistry TA and grader, I was able to pinpoint the problem areas in a student's comprehension of the science. I was also able to properly address and solve these issues in my sessions. The students seemed to enjoy working with me and my hands on approach to their learning. In this capacity, the students that attended my sessions had a 98% pass rate with the majority receiving a B or higher. I also worked special needs students in Chemistry while in this capacity. My experience in Biology is vast. I've worked and volunteered as a medical assistant and community health educator in two Spanish speaking clinics. In this capacity, I solely spoke in Spanish and translated between healthcare provider and patient. In addition, I was able to translate what I learned in the classroom to what I did in work.
Furthermore, these experiences have allowed me to tackle a student's problem from several angles. I've taught medical students in the clinical setting. When teaching Biology, I particularly enjoy working with clinical students. Nevertheless, I've found that applying what we experience everyday to the study of the Chemistry and Biology tends to resonate with students at every age. Using this method, I can effectively teach and engage a range of students from middle school to graduate school. Lastly, I've always had a knack for languages. As a high school student, I was at the top 98th percentile in my ACT English. I'm fluent in Spanish. As a non-native speaker, I am well versed in helping out students who are new to Spanish master the language.
