In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Beforee obtaining my B.A. Criminal Justice from Marygrove College, I was subjected to many writing assignments that would force me to learn, research and understand why crime happens. Through this study, I was able to conclude that while there are many variables that contribute to crime happening, we know that it is mainly due to genetics, childhood experiences and to some extent the neighborhood one lives or lived in early on. Through these factors one can deduce why a particular crime happens and how it was committed.
While being in the criminal justice program at Marygrove college, I was subjected to many writing assignments that required me to study cultural behavior in society as it pertains to crime and its causes. Crime, as we know is a societal problem that we continue to fight but have no way getting rid of and we never will. Criminal justice studies the "why" of crime and society is an integral part of why some people behave the way they do.
