About Rola

I have always believed that teaching was the way I was going to impact the world. Now that I have my degree in teaching, I can pursue my dream as an educator and help shape the future of schools and children. It is important for me to strengthen this belief by impacting as many students as I can.

My degree specializes in Social Science education, but I have much experience teaching other subjects such as basic math, writing and proofreading, reading comprehension, and more. I also have experience teaching students 5 years of age all the way up to 18 years of age.

In order for me to make the greatest impact on my students, I enjoy instilling a sense of confidence and success in all the work they turn in to me. All my lessons start with an objective and a short review. We have all heard the motto 'practice makes perfect'. Well I say 'practice makes individuals who strive for accomplishment'. This is what I enjoy the most about teaching. It is not about creating perfect individuals, it is about influencing others to educate themselves and believe in themselves through the work they do.

I hold myself to high standards. This means that I establish a code of conduct with my students. The most important code I live by is giving feedback. I want each student and parent to be completely satisfied by the end of each lesson and session. As much feedback I give my students, I would like them to give me in return to make sure I am the best influence to their education.

To make sure both my students and parents are comfortable, I am flexible in choosing the learning environment to hold a session.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you be successful!

I currently teach at Nolan Elementary/Middle School as the 6-8 Social Studies teacher. I teach World Geography, World History, and US History. All of my lessons and activities are aligned to the Common Core State Standards for Reading, Writing, and Literacy.

I volunteered in many writing centers, helping students improve their writing. I try to go through the writing piece with not only an open mind but a positive mind. Writing is difficult for many and no one is perfect, but I want to make sure that once all corrections have been made, the student is comfortable submitting their work. I want them to feel so confident in their writing they could publish it for all the world to see!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary Math

Before I started teaching, I tutored for 2-3 years in elementary math and reading. I have tutored between the ages of 4-13, so I have experience with all types of ages. I am also familiar with common core math standards to help students show growth in their grade level.

Geography

I am a Social Studies teacher in Detroit. I teach 6th grade world geography and I create and teach lesson plans. All of my lessons align with common core state standards. All of my lessons are geared towards reading and writing standards as well.

Prealgebra

I have tutored math for about five years. I am also a teacher and understand the common core state standards, which will be a base of where I start my lessons.

Proofreading

I am an experienced Middle School Teacher, currently teaching in Detroit. I always teach proofreading in my Social Studies class because it aligns with common core state standards. Also, proofreading is an essential skill all of my students need to learn to be able to peer edit their work.
