SUNY Geneseo (Biology)
Dear potential students,
I would like to start by explaining my education. I Went to Brooklyn Technical High School then attended SUNY Geneseo, where I placed on the Deans list several times. I have a semester of tutoring experience at SUNY Geneseo tutoring Freshman Chemistry to 2 college students. We made a lot of progress and had a little bit of fun at the same time. One of my students even recommended me to his friends.
I believe gaining a solid understanding of core concepts and basic techniques is critical in Chemistry. With this solid understanding of the basics the rest of the material can be mastered more efficiently. Of course, good study habits are also very important and should be encouraged.
First, the student should be made to grasp the logic behind the concept, then the student should begin to apply the concept using techniques that are practiced.
In History my outlook would be different. The first step is to help the student figure out what they need to learn, then go over it with them. Since a lot of history is memory intensive, I might utilize games and projects to assist in retaining the information.
I look forward to helping you learn! Dear potential students,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
