As an educator, I daily juggle the tasks of administrative assistant within the areas of instruction, assessment, and implementation including ongoing communications with colleagues, administrators, and parents. I have a BA in Elementary Education. I am an experienced educator who recently served as a long-term substitute Music teacher at an elementary school during the spring of 2014. At the beginning of the 2013 school year, I also served as a Kindergarten teacher. Previously, I have taught in the California, Missouri, Florida, and Arizona.
In recent years, I served as a sixth grade Geography and Language Arts Teacher. During this teaching position, I served as BETA club advisor, student government advisor, after school Drama Club director, editor of the school newsletter, after school communities in schools participant, and received the Employee of the Month award.
Previously, I have taught fifth grade at several schools in different states. I also served as an advocate as Technology committee liaison, grade level rep, and after school drama director during these professional experiences. During these teaching experiences, I received Lindamood-Bell Visualization/Verbalization training which I found to be quite effective for my urban & ESL students.
My classroom is always an active and interactive arena for self-discovery. I excel in creating a creative, meaningful, and respectful learning environment for my students to grow. I engage my students regularly in meaningful educational experiences through music and drama. I encourage my students to ask questions and share new ideas as well as experiences with their peers.
On another note, I previously served as Assistant Director and Private Kindergarten teacher for a private academy. I am currently acting as Site Director for an after school program for a Community Education program.
I worked as a Tour Consultant Marketing Specialist for an organization that provides music performance and educational opportunities. This position allowed me the opportunity to travel domestically as well as internationally, working with music educators and directors from across the United States. Through daily targeted marketing phone and email communications, I actively pursued the development of music performance opportunities for their professional, student, church, and community music ensembles. In this position, I successfully engaged hundreds of clients in the planning & implementation of domestic and international music performance tour experiences for bands, choirs, and orchestras.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
