In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a master's degree in Counselor Education. In my degree I've taken specific courses related to ADD and other learning disabilities. Much of working with students who have ADD is helping to build behavioral supports, both self regulated and monitored by adults. I've got 2 years experience working in a special education classroom that had students with ADD. I have an additional 2 years working with students who had an ADD diagnosis in a treatment facility for youth.
I have a master's degree in Counselor Education. In my degree, I've taken specific courses related to Autism. Much of working with students who are Autistic is helping to build behavioral supports, both self regulated and monitored by adults. These students often struggle with social situations- something that counselors excel at assisting with. I would be able to not only work with students who have autism, but also the families who love them. I have two years experience working in a special education classroom as a Paraprofessional working with children who had autism.

Much of working with elementary students in reading or math is not just mastery of the subject, but understanding of the adolescent mind and how it learns best. I've got 7 years' experience working with all age groups of children. I have the patience and drive to work with your child's trouble areas!
I use Outlook all day, every day at work. I can assist any adult learner in learning to read, organize, sort, and compose emails. I work in a corporate setting and can also assist users in planning meetings, managing personal calendars, and utilizing group meeting space. Outlook is a vital tool in many office structures and I am comfortable explaining how to utilize it's vast features.
I have been a PC user since 1996. I'mean familiar with all windows OS since 95. I can assist adult learners in becoming familiar with basic operations, without being condescending. For people who are seeking advanced instruction I can assist in advanced system administration setup as well.
I received my BA, in Political Science, from Michigan State University in 2007. I maintained a higher average in my Political Science classes than any other subject area. I remain politically aware to this day, which I think can help spur student interest in the subject. I can assist any student with general concepts in Political Science by making them comfortable with the terminology and concepts that typically confuse most students.
Hello! I've passed WyzAnt's Reading and Math requirements for Elementary students. I read at the college level, but more importantly I have patience to work with younger students who are still learning the basics of reading and math. I love kids, and I'd love to work with you to assess where your 7 year old is with his reading and math and help him bring it to where you are expecting it to be.
As a School Counselor I am well versed in assisting students in identifying their strengths and weaknesses. I have helped numerous students identify their learning style and apply it to their study habits. Many students, and their families, have no idea how to study. Once they learn the basics it can be applied to any subject area.
