I have teaching experience in two states in the U.S., as well as in Mexico. In addition to learning the applied curriculum, students receive study skills, organizational behavior modification, immediate gratification for positive participation and work to support and motivate on another. These are examples of my professional philosophies of progressivism and essentialism.
As a result of studying in Mexico for one year at ITESM and teaching here for another two years, I am proficient in Spanish and therefore know first-hand the trials and tribulations of acquiring a second language. I am dedicated to enthusiastic and dynamic teaching in an authentic manner that can be used in the real world as well as academic situations.
I do believe that traditional teaching has its place in education, but everyone learns differently, and that must be taken into account. I like to use realia (3D objects) and pictures, not just speaking. I learned Spanish as my second language and if I can, anyone can. And due to learning a second language, I became certified in teaching ESL for those who's second language will be English.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have been a licensed teacher for 10 years and have found tactics to help students with memorization and for breaking large amounts of information down into like categories and manageable sized portions. I teach time management and being creative by using rhymes, sketches. I believe in using a tabbed binder for easy location and having a priority list.
