I have taught Public Speaking and Oral Business Presentation Skills at the undergraduate and graduate level at The University of Michigan School of Communication and Ross School of Business as well as Madonna University and through The University of Michigan/Dearborn for Ford Motor Company employees.
I have my own coaching business where I concentrate on media training student-athletes as well as pro-athletes and executives. Additionally, I coach business executives in presentation skills.
However, I like to give back what I've learned through my years in the corporate environment and higher education research, so I'd be happy to help high school students as well.
In many research studies and business reports, the lack of speaking skills is still a number one problem cited by CEOs involved in their hiring practices. I look forward to helping you feel more comfortable when presenting or speaking in front of others. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am not a PGA golf pro, but I am an avid golfer and have played for a long time. I've helped many friends and golf league members improve their swings and enjoy golf more. I'm very patient and love teaching golf and helping people improve. I'm especially interested in teaching women.
I have a background in communications, marketing, media and PR. I have worked 20+ years in the marketing arena and currently teach marketing classes at Schoolcraft College.
Prepare yourself to speak to just a few people or in front of a large class or group of attendees. You will have an opportunity to put together your own topic with the use of visual aids such as power point or actual props. You will learn great tips to make you feel more comfortable and you will have the opportunity to have an expert(me) critique your entire presentation.
I have over 20 years teaching public speaking and presentation skills. I have a Master's in Communications Studies from the University of Michigan where I was a lecturer in the Department of Law, History and Communication. I have written published and unpublished articles. For 11 years, I was the Director of Media and Presentation Training at PCGC Campbell, a marketing company in Dearborn, where I worked with such clients as Ford Motor Company.
