I've experienced everything in accounting: bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, tax returns for individuals, businesses and pension plans, and audits across several industries, as well as financial and tax planning assistance.
In recent years, the focus of my work has shifted towards the training of both coworkers and clients. This is similar to tutoring in that I work one on one with individuals to help them understand the things that I understand. I have found that I really enjoy this aspect of the job. There is something enjoyable about sharing your knowledge with others and helping them to get that light to turn on. The reason I think that I am good at training/tutoring is that I am able to put myself in that person's shoes and explain things in a way that they can easily understand.
Besides accounting, my other love is math. Accounting, of course, is math based, so they go hand in hand. My daughter is in high school and taking all the honors math classes. It's been really enjoyable working with her when she does request assistance. I think that my relevant experience and my personality will make me a valuable asset for those in need of tutoring help in accounting and/or math.
