As an educator, my main focus revolves around higher education. This means that as an instructor, it is my duty to provide, to the best of my ability, the most beneficial and efficient form of teaching. As a tutor, I have found that many people learn in many different ways, and being able to adapt to different styles of learners is crucial when teaching. Out of this experience, I also understand that it is the duty of the student to create their own personal successes in school. Teachers have a large amount of responsibility upon their shoulders, but it is my belief that the students themselves have a large amount of responsibility for their academic achievements. As an instructor, it is also my firm belief that I have a duty to reach out to those students who I see are struggling; be that academically, socially, or from home. I will do my best to provide, within my limits, what instruction I can, to help them be successful. My personal goal is to mold creative thinkers and foster independence amongst my students, as well as provide a mindset that is able to work as a ‘team.’ If I can maintain this goal, academic success will follow. Finally, as a teacher, I promise to be a role model for my students, both professionally and socially. I understand that as a teacher, it is my responsibility to be reflecting positive ethics to the students and the community around me. These are all beliefs and goals I hold true as an educator. This is my philosophy.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
