In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I began studying the French language in the second grade and continued taking French classes all the way through high school (including Advanced Placement). I then went on to major in French at college. After receiving my B.A. degree from Miami University, I received my M.Ed. degree from Marygrove College with a cognate in French translation. Subsequently, I was a teacher of high school French.
I studied Spanish as an undergrad at Miami University, then went on to continue my studies at Wayne State University in the graduate school program, maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. Subsequently, I taught high school Spanish for 27 years.
