“**Very intelligent tutor that will keep you paying attention and determined for you to solve your problems.**”

I have enjoyed the personal gratification of tutoring since high school. Since I was 15 years old, I have shared my knowledge and love of mathematics with people of all ages. I attended Spelman College and Georgia Institute of Technology, where I received my Bachelor of … Read more

Stephanie is currently helping me learn trigonometry to take my "testing out" test. She is an amazing tutor. I love the way she teaches, she is humorous with her teaching so you will not dose off, she makes you want to learn and she will keep you on task. Overall she's an intelligent women that will get the job done and you will enjoy it. I defiantly recommend her, you will not be disappointed

Stephanie has taken what my professor has scribbled on the board and turned it into language I can understand! She gives me hint that will help me on test. I see Stephanie every week and won't stop, she has made algebra understandable. I have been out of school for 21 years and she is very patient with me. There are times I ask questions over and over but she never gets upset with me.

Stephanie was patient with my son and made him feel comfortable as he completed each math problem. Her teaching technique works well for my son.

Stephanie helps my son to better understand math and science concepts by teaching him different ways to learn what he's working on. She's patient, always encouraging him to do his best, and makes him feel successful.

Stephanie was on time and prepared. My daughter and I are pleased with her knowledge so far and hope that this time spent with Stephanie will continue to be time well spent.

She is teaching my 10th grader at Plymouth geometry. She is great, my son has learned so much in just a few lessons.

Stephanie was prompt, professional, and passionate about the subject matter. My son told me as we left the tutoring session "Mom, I learned something new today"! That was music to my ears!

Thanks Stephanie...we look forward to working with you again very soon.

Stephanie has been tutoring my daughter in precalculus for a couple of months. Her informal, patient style puts my daughter at ease. She appears to be in no hurry and always encourages her to try additional problems to make sure she feels absolutely confident. My daughter's grade in precalc has definitely improved as a result of Stephanie's tutoring while her stress level has dramatically decreased!

Thank you, Stephanie. Our daughter enjoyed working with you and was given clarity in areas she struggled with. We appreciate your speedy reply, flexible schedule, and time spent working with her.

I am learning a lot with my tutor. I feel more ready to take the ACT test than I did before starting with Stephanie.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

The key is to success in ACT Math is to get the student confident and comfortable with the format and the type of logic/strategy needed to answer the questions. Sometimes students know the concepts, but don't understand what is being asked of them in each problem. Others get nervous because they only get 1 minute for each question--there are 60 questions that must be answered in 60 minutes.

My job will be to get her/him past the concern of time and content being asked in each problem. To do this, I teach efficient subject sessions, and follow those with practice problems, homework, and practice tests.

I appreciate the beauty of algebra, and express that appreciation to my students. I am dedicated to showing students how and why processes work, not just drilling them on what the processes are.

As my student, he/she will learn 6 competencies that will help them achieve comfort and confidence in Algebra 1:

1) Interpret the structure of expressions

2) Write expressions in equivalent forms to solve problems

3) Perform arithmetic operations on polynomials

4) Create equations that describe

numbers or relationships

5) Solve equations and inequalities

in one variable

6) Represent and solve equations

and inequalities graphs

I appreciate the beauty of algebra, and express that appreciation to my students. I am dedicated to showing students how and why processes work, not just drilling them on what the processes are.

As my student, he/she will learn 4 competencies that will help them achieve comfort and confidence in Algebra 2:

1)Understand the concept of a function and use function notation

2)Interpret and analyze functions that arise in applications in terms of the context

3)Build new functions from existing functions

Linear, Quadratic, and Exponential Models

4)Construct and compare linear and exponential models and solve problems

I appreciate the beauty of geometry, and express that appreciation to my students. I am dedicated to showing students how and why processes work, not just drilling them on what the processes are.

Geometry is a visual subject, and will require the creation of shapes and diagrams during the problem solving process. As a tutor, I encourage students to draw figures and analyze their shape, size and position .

As my student, he/she will learn 6 competencies that will help them achieve comfort and confidence in Geometry:

1) Experiment with transformations in the plane

2) Understand congruence figures

3) Understand and apply theorems about circles

4) Explain volume formulas and use them to solve

problems

5) Visualize relationships between two-dimensional and three-dimensional objects

6) Apply geometric concepts in modeling situation

I understand that pre-algebra is the foundation to all algebra concepts, and that the most be mastered before advancing to the next level.

I am dedicated to showing students how and why processes work, not just drilling them on what the processes are.

As my student, he/she will learn 7 competencies that will help them achieve comfort and confidence in Pre-Algebra:

1) New types of numbers such as integers, fractions, decimals and negative numbers

2) Factorization of natural numbers

3) Properties of operations such as associativity and distributivity

4) Simple (integer) roots and powers

5) Rules of evaluation of expressions, such as operator precedence and use of parentheses

6) Basics of equations, including rules for invariant manipulation of equations

7) Understanding of variable manipulation

Manipulation and arithmetic with the standard 4-quadrant Cartesian coordinate plane

I understand that pre-calculus is the foundation to all calculus concepts, and that the most be mastered before advancing to the next level.

I am dedicated to showing students how and why processes work, not just drilling them on what the processes are.

As my student, he/she will learn 7 competencies that will help them achieve comfort and confidence in Pre-Calculus:

1) Function composition

2) Polynomial functions

3) Functions and their inverses

4) Rational functions

5) Trigonometry identities

6) Logarithms

7) Sequences and series

Like geometry, trigonometry is a visual subject, and will require the creation of shapes and diagrams during the problem solving process. As a tutor, I encourage students to draw triangles and analyze the relationships between their sides and the angles between these sides.

As my student, he/she will learn 3 competencies that will help them achieve comfort and confidence in Trigonometry:

1)Extend the domain of trigonometric functions using the unit circle

2)Model periodic phenomena with trigonometric functions

3)Prove and apply trigonometric identities
