Central Michigan Univeristy (Spanis and ESL)
Hello, my name is Brian and I am a recent graduate from Central Michigan. I earned my BA in Spanish and English as a Second Language. I would have to say that my favorite classes in college were my English and Spanish linguistic classes; and my top experience would be my study abroad to Chile in the Fall of 2011. I also spent some time in Costa Rica, which was a high school Spanish class trip. My time at Central also consisted of tutoring ESL students and a semester assisting in Spanish 1 classes.
I would like to also take a moment to explain how I tutor and also my view on language. My method of tutoring takes the role of the guide. I like to see what the student is capable of without my assistance and get a feel for where I should step in and help. I also do a great deal of explaining when needed. I've realized that sometimes I may talk too much, but I am still learning and growing as a tutor. My views on language is that it is like a puzzle. You need to be patient with the pieces and exam them. It is not a concrete thing, because sometimes one piece may fit into multiple places and change according to the way you wish to express yourself at that time.
I look forward to meeting and working with you. Hello, my name is Brian and I am a recent graduate from Central Michigan. I earned my BA in Spanish and English as a Second Language. I would have to say that my favorite
I have traveled to Costa Rica and Chile, where I did my Study Abroad. I spent six months in Chile studying, and I also volunteered at a local elementary school assisting in their English classes. I also worked as a Spanish 1 teaching assistant in college. My tutoring philosophy is that I am there as a guide to the student.
