I'm a retired physics, chemistry and math teacher that taught over 34 years with the last 22 at Hinsdale South High School in Darien, Illinois. I have worked with all different age groups in high school teaching physics mostly and I taught summer school algebra I, algebra 2 and chemistry for over ten years at South. I was a certified tutor in college working with veterans and college physics students and I have taught Physics , Chemistry and College Algebra for over twenty-five years for College of DuPage, Joliet Junior College and Carl Sandburg Junior College. Since I retired in June I have tutored about thirteen different students in algebra, college algebra, geometry, chemistry and physics. My youngest student has been a seventh grade prodigy and the oldest being a single mom going back to school for her nursing degree.

My wife and I are both now retired and have moved permanently to our dream land in the UP. I have decided to start tutoring again as I miss the student contact and the pride that comes from helping someone do something they could not do before.

Subjects

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra is basically language. The key is learning what you can and cannot do and it's a very comfortable and fulfilling subject to teach.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is just taking algebra 1 and raising it to a bit higher level. All the answers are there and its fun to teach others how to get to them.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

Chemistry is the left and to physic's right hand. I enjoy it because it is the first science class that most people see with math included.
Geometry,

Geometry

I love geometry. If you look at the problems they are more like opportunities to show your skills and the more of them you do the easier they become.
Physics,

Physics

Physics was not only my major but also my favorite subject. I really enjoy watching students understanding how it works, I guess you could call those "light bulb" moments.
Precalculus

Precalculus

This is where algebra, geometry and trigonometry mingle together and form a multi level exercise in mathematics. I enjoy the challenge and try to impart that excitement to my students.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry

An nice combination of geometry and algebra. A very useful skill to have for "real" life mathematics. A very appliable math for science and especially physics. Usually easy to teach and comprehend.

great teacher

Nice and patient teacher really helped my son in geometry, and my son was engaged in the class which makes me so happy because he is so picky. Highly recommend

Knowledgeable and effective tutor

George quickly diagnosed my son's weak spot in his AP physics curriculum and tailored his class to my son's need. I appreciate his flexibility and inviting warmth, and my son looks forward to go back for more help!

thorough and incredible teacher

Not only did George help me through the problems I had trouble with, but made a personalized lesson to make things easier to understand and so I am well prepared for my test on Monday. Never makes anything stressful- always encouraging, supportive, and always helpful! Best math tutor I’ve ever had out of the 5 different math tutors I have had in the past.

Amazing physics tutor!!!

I am a high school honors physics student and George tutored me before my test on Coulombs Law, Electrostatics, Electric Fields, and Voltage. I ended up getting an A on my test, which was higher than the scores most of my peers received. He broke down concepts so well in a very understandable way and answered every question I asked!!

Friendly and passion for helping students.

Mr. George is a great tutor, he is very knowledgeable and has a lot of experiences in teaching. He explained homework assignments very clearly, my student enjoyed, learned a lot and didn’t fall asleep during the lesson.

Sue, 3 lessons with George

best, most concrete understanding

Thoroughly taught! Always honest and helpful! Very clear and neat handwriting for better understanding! Does the problems and teaches while doing them! :)

best, most concrete understanding

I have had about 4 different tutors to help me understand logarithms and only one has actually helped me to understand and finish my homework and make me feel prepared for my test and that is this one. I can’t express the amount of gratitude i have for the pruductiveness that came out of this lesson.

Very patient and organized

George has been tutoring my daughter a few weeks and has a great feel for the student's needs. Due to Covid shutdowns, my daughter fell behind. George has begun to reteach what she was previously taught in school so she can have the basis for what she is presently learning in school. She is showing significant improvement!
