Hello. I am an experienced in teaching various subjects. Most recently, I have taught classes in Microsoft Word at a community center which provides free public access to computers. Providing patrons with knowledge of Microsoft products helps them make better use of their computer time.
I also worked with students who were learning English as a second language. These students were new immigrants, mostly from Vietnam, but also from many other countries, who were working towards the goal of U.S. citizenship, as well as adjusting to life in a new country.
I am a skilled pianist and have give basic lessons in piano. I have a degree in fine arts and have taught drawing classes. I also trained as an art therapist and have conducted art therapy sessions in groups and individually.
I am patient with students, speak slowly and emphasize visual cues as learning devices.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
