About Jason

It was not until my first tutoring experience in high school that I realized my keen enthusiasts in this job. The sense of achievement I felt when students really understood what they did not before, that is an unique feeling you cannot get elsewhere. Every moment I had with my students during my tutoring experience is fun and unforgettable. Ever since this experience, my love for being a tutor has never been diminished.

After taking a lifelong time of classes, I know what kind of tutors teach the most efficient sessions and I intend to be one. Two years of Teaching Assistant and one year of tutoring piano experience have me learned that being a tutor requires far more than knowledge. As a tutor, knowledge is no good if you can't transfer them to your students. So a real, noticeable improve in scores is what I strive for.

I specialize in tutoring math, whether it's algebra, geometry or calculus and so on. Why? For starters, my major in the University of Michigan--Ann Arbor is Math. Second, grew up in China, I was exposed to the most difficult problems in the world (including the Math Olympics) and concentrated on pursuing solutions. What I believe and keep telling my students is: Solutions are always more than one.

One thing about my class: It's totally personalized. I have seen so many different students by now and I know not all students buy the same teaching method. So, after the first class, I will make study agendas for the students based on his/her knowledge level and preference of teaching. In addition, to perfect this tutoring experience for both tutor and students, I will always ask for feedback periodically from students and parents and make adjustments if necessary.

I am flexible with time, and I offer makeup lessons as well.

I prefer teaching classes at the University of Michigan, library, classrooms, etc. There are always quiet and comfortable places for lessons. However, if requested, I am happy to travel to another location where the students are more convenient to get.

I really look forward to helping you and having fun with you in classes.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

I finished all my calculus (I-IV) with a grade of A. And algebra is really my thing.

Calculus

I studied calculus two years ago and finished all calculus courses (I-IV) with a grade of A. Plus, with me majoring actuarial mathematics, dealing with complicated problem on a daily basis, calculus is one of my skill set. So I am more than qualified to be a tutor at calculus.

Geometry

Worked on Olympic Math in high school. Have superior ability solving Geometry problems.
